be no flux fire service or any local fire or medical calls. it's still unclear exactly who will be paying for this because of the declaration, state or federal fund or both could be paying for those strike teams to head out to these dozen or so fires across the state. live in san jose, derek shore, "today in the bay." >> all right, thank you very much, derek. meanwhile a brush fire starting in eureka. it burned between three and four acres. the kasz is under investigation -- cause is under investigation. breaking news in san francisco. hazmat crews on the scene of a beached boat near the cliff house. the boat still there. we don't know if there were people on that woet or how long it was beached. but we have a crew headed to the scene and we'll get an update as soon as they arrive. lawyers will be at closing argumenting in the case of a bay area teacher accused of

5:07 am
low pressure as it moved up out of southern california. at times brings brief showers around the pass, but right now most of the action is off to the east. this pattern includes an area of low pressure which causes a number of problems in southern california yesterday. est that going to drift during the day today and the moisture will go counterclock wise around the low spilling towards the bay area and increasing the chances of seeing showers or brief thundershowers. especially later tonight into early tomorrow for the next 36 hours, going to be interesting which is typically one of the driest times of the year. you're going to throw that out for now. clouds coming in and best chance of showers around the north bay hilltops and tuesday, too, you'll see the chances of showers there, starting to shut down and heading off to the east as the winds begin to push that monsoon moisture away from us by wednesday. but in the men time -- meantime, increasing clouds. close to 80 in san jose. slight chance of thunder around gilroy, morgan hill. cool and breezy at times, north

>> thank you much. i want to check in with meteorologist rob miatta. he is in for christina all week, he has a look at an interesting day ahead. >> looking at the radar, we have it cranked up for the morning. >> right. >> it's good news of course, tossing a cup of water in an empty swimming pool. anything is good. you can see august there in the box in the middle of the screen. typically we just get barely enough to wet the ground, if we get measurable rainfall. that could set some daily rainfall record and over the next couple of days, that is a possibility as monsoon moisture sweeped out of the sierra and brings us the chances of summer showers. right now low 60s outside. fairly mild start. we have the low clouds across san francisco with some mist for the morning. but the more interesting crowds lurking off to the east. those are going spill in during the day powering up scattered showers and thunder in the sierra. as that drops into the hilltops
5:17 am
later on this afternoon, that'll be the best bet of showers today. down around morgan hill and gilroy. but then as we head into tomorrow, we'll see more of the moisture spilling across the rest of the bay area. so there's monsoon moisture, part of a very interesting weather pattern that took shape late yesterday. heavy thunderstorms at times across southern california with an area of low pressure which moved out of southern california into the central sierra this morning and will continue on its path into northeastern california. that's going to pump more moisture back toward the bay area, give thus mugginess we're seeing outside this morning, drop our temperatures down with the clouds and bring us a chance of seeing some summer showers. and i think the best bet of seeing summer showers for the next, looks like day or so will be in the north bay hilltops and around the east bay. you see how the more intense rain should be off in the sierra and north of sonoma county and during the day tomorrow, mostly cloudy skies and a chance of showers, especially in the north bay hilltops and enough moisture to kick off some thundershowers
5:18 am
at times. so rainfall accumulations if we can manage anything, again this is good news. the higher totals should be in the north bay hilltops. you can see that getting up close to maybe a fifth of inch of rain in the north bay hilltops. but the isolated downpours and the stronger cells, you could see locally higher totals like in southern california. but i do think that most of the action will be around the sierra and perhaps good news for the fire fighting efforts in northeastern california. this is going to bring lightning, but the storms have enough moisture to bring us much needed rain as we sweep through, through about tuesday. for today, highs near 80 degrees in san jose. we'll see a chance of showers in morgan hill, could include brief thunder. san francisco seeing highs in the 60s today and headed to the north bay, highs in the 70s. same trend into tuesday too with partly cloudy skies, fremont 78. pleasanton about 83. two days where the showers or a chance of a thundershower will be in the forecast. middle part of the week, things begin to dry out and the
